Collection Development Timelines for Jewelry Designers

Blog Post Template - 2021-06-04T103513.376

During the busy Holiday season, it is JUST incredible how quickly time flies. Wouldn’t you agree? Before you know it, it’s time to develop your spring collection!

December was always an insanely busy month for TMD: we were loaded with holiday sales, prepping for the January ENK Accessorie Circuit tradeshow and scrambling at the last minute to get everything together for Spring.

I remember thinking that I was often behind on my collection development because I didn’t understand at first how the buying cycle for jewelry wholesale worked! As time moved on, well, procrastination set in. Since January was one of my biggest shows of the year, I knew how important it was to have fresh new product for retail buyers and editors to shop.

Inevitably, I would be working through the holidays finishing up line sheets and tagging my samples. That was until I started mapping out the collection development timeline on my calendar and backing out milestones so it would be complete on time.

Since I’ve heard from so many of you about being late to market with your seasonal collections, I thought I would give you a bit of an insider tip so you can actually complete your collections ON TIME (or dare I say early??)!

You’re going to want to take notes!

Go Ahead and watch the Collection Development Timeline Cheatsheet  (for Jewelry Designers) below…

** Please note that the term “Resort” and “Holiday” can be used interchangeably!
