A brief story of what you do and why you do it:

I created L. SHOFF for the fore-thinkers and the responsibly minded. Using age-old techniques and quality processes, every piece is handmade using reclaimed metals.

How did you get into jewelry design?

I originally studied Fashion Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My Accessories Design professor at the time recognized my talent for jewelry design and encouraged me to focus on developing my craft.

What makes your collection unique?

Every piece we produce is made from 100% recycled and reclaimed metals with gems that are reclaimed or responsibly sourced. Each piece is hand crafted to ensure the highest quality for the wearer.

What are your inspirations?

I am constantly inspired by the things around me. From the simplicity of natural elements to the complexity of Baroque architecture, I find inspiration everywhere. I love going to museums, I just love taking the time to immerse myself in whatever the artist felt.

How are you making a difference in your life?

By creating jewelry that doesn't impact the environment. Every piece we produce is made from metals and gems that are not newly mined or extracted, it allows me to be creative, but not destructive.

What's something unusual about you that makes you “you”?

I am currently studying at the Gemological Institute of America where I have earned my Graduate Pearls degree and am working towards my Graduate Gemology and Associate Jewelry Professional degrees.

What's the biggest struggle in running your jewelry business like a business? OR What is your biggest success in running your business like a business?

I'm only 22-years-old, so I think that people underestimate me sometimes. Yet I believe that is something I can play to my advantage. I am constantly learning and developing my skills to create a product that is beautifully made without impacting the environment.
