#328 The Mindset Shifts Required to Become a 7 Figure Business Owner
Let’s get real about what it takes to grow your business to the 7 figure mark.
This is a bit of a continuation on last week’s Thrive by Design Episode, What It Really Takes to Grow From $100K to $500K.
The focus of that episode was 5 strategies any established business owner can start implementing now for strategic growth. If you missed, I recommend listening to it first, because a lot of the concepts in today’s episode will build on it.
I’ve been inspired to tackle this topic because I have a brand new Masterclass coming up this month called An Inside Look at a 7+ Figure Jewelry Company.
I coach a lot of ambitious designers who want to understand the ins and outs of a highly successful business, so I figured it’s about time I compiled the information in one place.
As your business evolves, so do the needs of your business. Business owners who don’t learn to scale become the bottleneck for their company and ultimately hit a plateau.
If you’re someone who wants to…
- Get in control of all aspects of your business
- Focus on your creativity rather than things you hate doing
- Regain clarity and confidence in yourself
- Reclaim time with your family and friends
- Make your business work for you, not the other way around
- Get out of the Maker and Manager mindset
…then the 7+ Figure Masterclass is perfect for you.
But first, let’s talk a little bit about mindset.
Your growth starts with how you show up. It’s more important than anything else you do for your business.
I’ve seen designers who get lucky and make it big online, only to end up right back where they started because they weren’t able to adapt and maintain their growth.
It happens all the time, and it’s almost always because they aren’t shifting their mindset to step into the role they need to be in to meet the scale of their business.
I’ve also seen a lot of designers who are able to adapt, grow, and thrive with their business as it scales.
Here are the key mindset shifts that set them apart…

They Step Out of Doing and Step Into Leading
When you start a business, you need to have a skill.
When you grow a business, you need to be able to manage.
When you scale a business, you need to lead.
Designers who are able to scale a profitable company understand where they can provide the most value. That means they’re always doing an intake of the tasks on their plate so they can outsource their weaknesses and lean into their strengths.
This allows them to focus on their creative zone of genius without being bogged down by day-to-day work that isn’t moving the needle toward their goals.
They Dream Big and Back It Up With Action
Successful jewelry designers never lose track of the big dreams that got them started in the first place, but they also know that a dream is nothing without a plan.
They have a crystal clear vision of where they’re going, and understand how to back it up with actionable steps to set that vision into motion.
Being passionate about what you want is only the first step. I strongly encourage you to dig into the why of your vision to help you gain clarity.
Why do you want to reach your goal? What will it look like when you’ve achieved it? What is it going to take?
Most importantly, identify the obstacles that may get in your way, especially the obstacles that come from within.
They Know that What Got Them Here Won’t Get Them There
High-achieving business owners are able to grow with their business.
They’re constantly re-evaluating and refining their strategies to meet the ever-changing demands that come with scaling.
I’ve coached many students who come to me frustrated with their lack of online sales. I sit down with them and ask, “well, what are you doing?”
As we dig deeper into their situation, it almost always comes to light that they’ve been doing the same things over and over without experimenting, trying new strategies, and stepping out of their comfort zone.
If you feel like you’re stuck and not moving forward, sit down and write down everything you’re doing to get the result you’re reaching for…
What needs to change? What different approaches can you try? How can you show up in a better way for your business?
Listen to the full episode to hear the rest of the mindset shifts that are vital to growing your business to 7+ figures.
And don’t forget to RSVP to the Masterclass if you’re interested in taking a closer look at how a 7+ figure jewelry business operates.
