A brief story of what you do and why you do it.

I have passion for drawing since I was a little child. So I used this talent, along with my interest in fashion and art, to design and make my own jewelry in 2009.

I launched a line called “MELANIC”.

How did you get into jewelry design?

Back in college, I used to sketch and design some jewelry pieces to wear it myself. I started getting compliments on the designs and some people asked me to design for them some pieces as well.

My sister and I have always loved jewelry, so she encouraged me to start a jewelry line.

On 2011, I officially launched MELANIC.

What makes your collection unique?

“Melanic” stands for the darkest shade of the color black, the master of colors. Black, strong, mysterious and deep.

I like to blend imagination, meaning, uniqueness and precious gems to design jewelry.

My designs are a little bit edgy and fashionable.

What are your inspirations?

Different cultures and creative arts which for me provoke feelings and imagination. This inspires me to create distinct and unique jewelry.

How are you making a difference in your life?

Since I studied MIS, by designing I am taking a whole different path now. Design is my life, I want to dedicate myself to it. Taking courses at University Of The Arts London is going to set a new path for me.

What's the biggest struggle in running your jewelry business like a business?

My biggest struggle is that here in Saudi Arabia we don't have great jewelry manufacturers and jewelry stores. So I'd have to go overseas in order to approach the goal I want.
