Designer Spotlight: Lori Cohn
A brief story of what you do and why you do it.
I create contemporary charm jewelry with meaning, focusing on wrap bracelets made with hand painted silk ribbon, leather, and traditional Japanese kimono cloth cord. The drive behind why I do what I do is to share my experience, hope, and strength with other women. I try to inspire and motivate through my designs
How did you get into jewelry design?
My first bracelets came into being as something constructive and positive to do while recovering from a sudden and life threatening illness. Although I lost my job, home, and life as I knew it, surviving such a near death experience has made me feel and believe that I am indeed – CHARMED. This jewelry reflects my experience and love for life
What makes your collection unique?
Each piece I design has a powerful meaning behind it. I use symbolic charms and genuine stones which carry energy within them to create designs with spirit.
What are your inspirations?
My inspiration is life! After coming so close to dying, every day is a new chance to live my dreams and a compelling reason to be grateful for all that I am blessed to have in my life. I don’t want to miss a single second.
How are you making a difference in your life?
My gratitude and inspiration is what I try and share with other women through my designs, hoping to provide others with hope and awareness.
What's something unusual about you that makes you “you”?
As I spoke about before, I am lucky to have survived. This colors everything in my life and has made me who I am today.
What's the biggest struggle in running your jewelry business like a business?
The biggest struggle for me in running my business is trying to wear all hats at once. I am a one woman show, as they say, and have to carefully plan my time to be able to accomplish all of the facets of a successful venture. In addition to creating, I must manage my time in order to effectively do social media, marketing,and run the administration of Charmed Design. It is challenging, but I love every minute of it!
