Designer Spotlight: Venus Parker

A brief story of what you do and why you do it.

I a former public school music teacher and a professional violinist. I have always related music to everything I do and now I get to communicate my creative passion through my jewelry pieces.

I am now a stay home Mom! And run my Jewelry business from my home studio. I specialize on customizing pieces to the particular taste and personality of each individual client. I take great joy hand selecting each particular stone and other materials to create each piece.

Every time I create a design I go through the process as if I would be making it to wear it myself! I simply try to select the best materials then I take the time considering colors coordination, balance and timeless style.

How did you get into jewelry design?

While spending time with my sister, I decided to make a necklace with her while playing with beads. I wore it the next day at church and it was sold that afternoon!

What makes your collection unique?

While designing I try to think out of the box, using different textures and bead sizes to create my pieces.

What are your inspirations?

My friends, my fans and my clients! Their needs and wants are my inspiration. Every time I make something to market it I end up selling it.

How are you making a difference in your life?

Making jewelry is my new passion, it gives me the freedom to express my creativity, it relaxes me and it helps me make extra money.

What's something unusual about you that makes you “you”?

I am a violinist by profession, I am very passionate and creative person, I constantly think about what I can create with my hands, from music to jewelry!

What's the biggest struggle in running your jewelry business like a business?

Managing my expenses. I love to buy beads and tend to re-invest 100% of my profit and some 🙁 I would love to take my small business to the next level, stop treating it like a hobby! I need to prove myself to my husband so that he can help me purchase my own place and run a fiscal retail store in the future.
